Art Therapy for Social Justice

Welcome back to our Social Justice Art Therapy blog space! Much has taken place in the art therapy community since our last post in 2015. In the U.S., we have seen a rise in both lay and state-sanctioned xenophobic, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, and gendered violence since the 2016 presidential election. In the art therapy community, professionals have expressed dismay at the decision by Second Lady of the United States to use her platform to educate the public about the field of art therapy, even as the administration she represents continues to enact policies that erode human rights protections.
